About Me
My Professional Background
I opened my own practice in 1995 and am licensed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. My law practice spans a variety of areas and I have appeared in all New York state and federal courts, as well as been involved with many other U.S. state and international jurisdiction. I genuinely enjoy practicing as a sole practitioner because I help my clients with very real, personal and important legal needs.
Previously, I practiced law with Proskauer Rose, LLP. Proskauer is one of the largest law firms in New York City and has an easily recognizable list of high profile clients (NBA, NHL, Yankees, UPS, Madison Square Garden, etc.). I was a commercial litigator and learned my skills with attorneys who I regard as some of the best and brightest practitioners in the nation.
I received my Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from Brooklyn Law School (a private law school not affiliated with Brooklyn College) in 1993. I worked very hard in law school and achieved excellent grades. I was also a staff member of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.
My pre-legal career focused on finance. I worked as a financial analyst for Peterson & Co. Consulting, whose primary client was a consortium of asbestos insurers and producers. I also worked as a financial analyst for a small entrepreneurial firm, Barclay Associates. Barclay Associates specialized in obtaining "venture debt" financing for struggling companies. My role as a financial analyst was to review financial positions and prepare presentation packages to potential lenders. During this phase of my career, I learned about the pragmatism needed for successful bankruptcy workouts.
As an undergraduate, I attended both the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Penn's College of Arts & Sciences. At graduation, the University awarded me two degrees -- a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of Arts and Sciences.
I was born and raised in South Jersey and moved to Philadelphia for college. Two years after college, I relocated to New York City. Since then, I have worked in and loved New York since 1990. I also treasure Provincetown, Massachusetts which is a very special place near and dear to my heart.
